I have a compaq presario something or other, and I have just changed over to Windows 10, but I dont know if its related or not, but the "tap to click" function on the touchpad is not working.I have tried the device settings tab, and checked/unchecked the tap feature, but its still not working. The touchpad buttons are working, but not the "tap" feature on the mouse.

Windows update installed a new Touchpad driver for me today, (ELAN touchpad in an ASUS).

Random Synaptics TouchPad driver works for a lot of laptops.

I fixed the problem eventually by going to device manager, then double click on the mouse and pointer button, then look for the driver tab of that and click on the roll back driver button.
I then clicked on the the update driver button. Each time the computer will switch off,and then restart.

What you are doing is going back to a previous driver, and then going back to the present driver. Yeah it's a bit confusing, but it simply worked. I am guessing that the driver did not install properly with the change over to win 10,and I am just doing it again?

    So ye are correct.
