    Hey folks
I am new to this and have a few questions/assumptions.
    Please be patient :-)

    My current setup.
I have sky+ in my front room.
The rf2 output is run via coax to a TV in the kitchen so we can watch the TV in the kitchen if required.

I was hoping to switch the sky+ box to a vu+ box with a 1tb HDD
I assume to be able to record tv and watch something else I need one with twin tuners (one feed plugged into each tuner)
    Can anyone recommend a vu+ box (I think I need the VU+ Solo2)

This setup is nowhere near my home router
So is WiFi ok for this setup to keep the VU+ box connected to the internet (for reasons I wont get into) or would homeplugs be required.

The issue then becomes the tv in the kitchen
Doesn't look like the VU+ has an rf out & running more cables isn't an option so all I have is the existing coax.
I've heard you can get another VU+ box that would connect to main one in the front room (via wifi or homeplugs) and you can watch live TV via the main box.
Anyone any experience here? Features/Limitations etc

Any input / advise would be great!!!!!!!

Homeplugs should NEVER be used. They are bad technology that will cause interference to other users of the RF spectrum. If wi-fi does not work run CAT5 cables.

Well, as regards the RF out to the kitchen, if you want to re-establish this, you can get a standalone RF modulator like the Triax Tri-link, & feed it with a composite video & audio L/R output of the receiver (SCART or phono output).

Tri-link will also take care of 'magic eyes'.

Blackhole images on vu+ receivers are capable of doing this, you can share the tuner of your solo2 (which is connected to your satellite dish) with another vu+ receiver.
    It's called tuner server.
For it to work, both receivers need to be connected to your router as it streams from one to the other.
The server will build a virtual channels list in the folder /media/hdd/tuner on your box connected to your dish (solo2).
You can access the tuner(s) of your solo2 from clients (kitchen receiver) on your internal lan using nfs, cifs, UPnP or any other network mountpoint.
The tuner of the server (solo2) has to be avaliable. This means that if you have ony one tuner in your box you can only stream the channel you are viewing (or any channel you choose if your box is in standby).
Remember to select the correct Audio track in the audio menu if there is no audio or the wrong language is streaming.
NOTE: The sever is built, based on your current ip and the current channel list of this box. If you change your ip or your channel list is updated, you will need to rebuild the server database.
After the server has been built you can access it from the Media Player of the kitchen vu receiver.
It is explained in more detail at:
    vuplus-community.net/board/threads/black-hole-vu-uno-1-7-1-server-tuner.4897/

You will also be able to access recordings on your solo2 (solo2 hdd) from your kitchen vu receiver.

With regard to connecting to your router, hard wired (cat5) is the best way but i've never encountered problems using homeplug adaptors either. I've also used wifi but find that homeplugs perform better than wifi (if hard wiring is difficult/impossible).

The rf modulator is another way to go but you'll only be able to watch whats currently on in your solo2, with tuner server, you should be able to take full advantage of your second tuner in your solo2 (providing it's connected to your dish and not in use with recordings etc)

It is not usually the user that suffers with homeplugs but the people living around him/her.
Hard wiring can be difficult but never impossible, certainly no more difficult than installing aerial or satellite cables.
