    Gentlechappen of the 410,

The Mrs has.mooted a trip to the family estate (mobile home) which would require cycling from the train station in Tralee to Aughcasla plus local cycles to Castlegregory and the Maharees.

Can anyone advise the state of the roads and traffic?

You'd be better off asking this in the Kerry forum I'd think. Personally I'd say the weather is your biggest enemy at the moment on that trip

I can only speak as a driver who uses that road not a cyclist.
Cycle should be ok. The nearer you get to castkegregory to narrower the roads get. While traffic can be heavy it is slow moving as roads are narrow.
Enjoy it's my favorite part of Ireland :)

Its not a very nice cycle i think especially up to the junction at Camp. The road from tralee to there is long and straight with no shoulder so you get passed at 120 kph.Smaller roads are lovely but don't like that one.

Cycled it a good few times while preparing for the Ring. It's hit an miss in terms of traffic. Some times it was busy and other times it can quite enough.its pretty much full of long straights so you can get away with cycling two abreast provided there isn't two way traffic coming.

If your up for more cycling in the area,I'd recommend cycling into Annascaul and out into Inch beach and stop in Sami's restaurant. Stop for tea and sandwich and back again. The place usually had a great atmosphere around there in the weekends with a lot of cyclists stopping there.

.Cycling through the Connors Pass and into Dingle would be another great cycle and back again into castlegregory. There is no real shortage of possibilities for cyclists int the area interns of routes and beautiful scenery.

Oh and a bite to eat in Spillanes restaurant in the Maherees is only up the road from Castlegregory.
    Enjoy!
