So months ago I wiped my OEM 8.1 laptop with 10 preview. Now, because of all the licensing chaos I need to go back and get the 8.1 license back, to go to 10. How can I find out what my license is, they don't print them on the laptop anymore.

If it's not printed on a sticker, then it's embedded in the BIOS, and the WIn10 installer should find it automatically, as far as I know.

Grab an OEM copy of 8.1 and it'll SLIC activate itself. If you can't there are tools that can trigger SLIC activation. Then upgrade to 10, then do a clean install.
