Does a drink driving conviction affect US Esta application?

My brother in law is going to the States in September. He had a dd conviction in 2003, none before or since. Stupid mistake only a bit over. Anyway, off the road for six months, done the time.

Will he have to declare this for ESTA? I see the moral turpitude clause has gone. That was never defined anyway.

A single DUI conviction is not grounds to deny entry into the U.S; however, multiple DUI convictions or a DUI conviction in combination with other misdemeanor offenses can make a person inadmissible and require a waiver prior to entering the United States. A crime of moral turpitude (CIMT) may be grounds to deny entry to the U.S.
