Posted this in the tri forum and got some good feed back

Been suffering with some pain on the outside of the left knee.. Kicks in around 5k and has me nearly walking at around 9k.

Been running feck all as a result.. Doing a lot of lunges/squats and foam rolling a bit..

    Anyone have a wonder cure??

have you been to see anyone about it? ITB syndrome is exactly that, a syndrome. no body REALLY knows whats causing it. The go to analysis is tight tfl leading to tight ITB, but it can be different for everyone. Unfortunately there is no magic bullet.

What you need to do is build up slowly. Run pain free for a distance you know you can. Then the next time run a bit further, gain pain free. build up the distance slowly.

You'd be better to get a physio to look at it and don't run on it if it's giving you pain.

went to physio who basically told me what I knew and gave me S&C exercises which I've been doing daily for about two weeks now.

Still not much difference but holding out hope

Had a similar problem a while back and physio gave me a foam roller and it worked a treat.

There are loads of exercises you can do with them, just have a look on youtube.
