Triax 114 being dropped

I heard yesterday from my installer that triax are no longer going to make the tsc114 and there will now be no saorview approved combi box on the market. Seemingly the reason is triax are not happy with all these extra empty saorview channels being on the epg after terrestrial and before satellite channel list.

I know you can move them but its a fair point

I thought the Walker was the only approved combi?

The Triax approved combi was on the market before the Walker equivalent (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=77720022)

The only reason I mentioned it is because it (mysteriously) is the only one to still support series linking etc:(

Are you actually thinking of the WP6500 PVR (twin terrestrial tuners), not the combi?

Anyhow, the Saorview site still lists 6 approved combis, though I presume there's a bit of badge engineering going on, & don't know if they're all still in production.

You could well be right. I never touched any of them because of the bad reviews here. The AA2 and HTPC will keep me going for now.

I really don't know the reason for RTÉ having all those blank "channels" but the last TSC114's I went to try tune and reorder was messed over by the blanks.

Even with LCN off, the satellite channels etc would get moved away from the top 30 or so.

I don't know if all of these boxes have the same issue, or just the 2 I messed with (in same house).

Triax themselves though don't help matters with their lax attitude to support and software updates. Shudder at the memory of Triax's first Saorview combi box.

I guess due to Ireland's very small market, there won't be too many options on the STB side of things, outside of rebadged Vestel stuff and maybe Triax.

That problem happens with the predecessor the 537 not the 114, the 114 simply adds the blank ones which can be deleted. On the 537 the channels remain blank and invisible so the bbcs etc can only be moved to ch50 onwards which is a rite flipping pain.

Totally agree that Triax has the worse customer service I have ever ever ever dealt with in my life they even told a customer I knew to simply f-off on the phone and go to his dealer directly....
