John Grant, Galway Arts Festival

Hi,
I got a press pass for the John Grant gig at the Galway Arts Festival. I've taken photos at a few gigs in Roisin Dubh (smaller venue) and once before at The Arts Festival (all photos colours were blown out).

It's a steep learning curve I think, especially when you only have 3 songs to get the photos, you're lower than the stage (and the singer is sitting at a piano for 2 of them!). I shot with a 17-50 f2.8 lens and a 80-200 f2.8 for the close ups (and last one from back of crowd). Some of these photos I like, some not as they're not sharp etc. But I'm sharing all of these to get some feedback and also show some good and bad photos.

The ideal situation would be to shoot two gigs a few days apart so that I could review 1st gig for the second gig.

9 is by far the best, 11 would be up there too but imo it needs some work, the skin tone in b&w doesn't look good.

Number 9 is the strongest for me. It really captures him.
Number 11 just needs a bit of adjustment in lightroom. Maybe try to bring a little more light in the face. Lucky you. I'd love to see him live.
