What do you think of the winning outfit?
I think it's beautiful, but surprised it won.
IMO, it's not appropriate for an outdoor daytime event.

Agreed. The dress is beautiful, and so is she, but for the Races? That hat would never stand up to a high wind.

Best Dressed Competitions are nothing about the races! I doubt any of the entrants ever bother to watch a race. It's usually down to the personal taste of the Judges, who usually know nothing about going racing either!

The amount of fantastic style at the Galway Races is unbelievable. It must be so difficult to pick one winner. I personally didn't like the winning outfit this year. It was borderline evening dress and quite shapeless overall.

Can someone post a pic/link please?

Yeah, I thought it was awful too. Dress is far too evening-y and it's not particularly well-cut either. Odd choice by the judges, imo.

Totally agree, this dress was lovely but for an evening event, not the races, there were so many gorgeous dresses on Facebook that didn't even make the final 10....would add a few pics but don't know how !!!

much pefer this one....(hope the link works)

Gosh what an odd choice - it's just a plain red dress!
Not much thought gone into it at all.
    Very disappointing.
I don't like the white detail on the hat at all, it makes it look cheap.

The dress would be lovely at an evening event as already mentioned but just not a winner for the races in my opinion!

The girl in the middle here looks amazing. I haven't seen many photos from the races but I think she should have won rather than the actual winner. She's much more appropriately dressed.

I wasn't mad about the dress. I think it is the neckline that puts me off. I am not sure how suitable it is for the races and the weather there either.

I think she looked well but certainly not best dressed. The dress doesn't fit very well and to be honest she looks a little dishevelled in the pictures - though not doubt a day out in that weather would take it's toll on anyone. A tough outfit for a day at the races!

In fact I think Maura Derrane herself looks better than the lot of them.

There was another shortlister who had a red top and black and white shirt on and she looked amazing. I can't post a pic so if someone else can find it, please do. Winner I thought I was a bit boring with very little styling.

A beautiful outfit, and occasion appropriate.

She's a great advertisement for her own designs.

Did she design the dress that won best irish design at the Galway races?

I don't like the shoes but the rest of the outfit is lovely, more suited for Irish weather than what others wear to the races!

Smashing. Style in action. Shoes a bit thin for racing (the spike heels sink down into grass, LOL) but the Dublin Horse Show doesn't usually call for a lady to squelch across the grass anyway.

    Great choice in my opinion.
