I have a walnut stairs that I would like to protect. Is there anything like a stairs tread mat that can be used to protect the steps? Ideally I'd like something that doesn't need to be taped or nailed and can be put down/taken up very quickly. Does anything like this exist besides installing a runner etc?

Might seem a bit obvious but try to ensure people don't wear stilettos or hard shoes going up and down the stairs. That's what does the damage.

I've seen what you're describing on sale in Lidl or Aldi before but not for a good while now but I'm sure they'll come around again if you're willing to wait and keep an eye out for them. They are moulded rubber grips that sit on the nose of the stairs but only cover the middle of each step.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. Keep that kinda of stuff off as much as possible.

Will keep an eye out, thanks. It's basically just to throw down for everyday use and be able to take up again easily
