VW Transporter DOE test - will I fail if tested on non-standard wheels

have had an offer of a set of VW steels...standard issue 17" VW Transporter part BUT they are wearing a very nice nearly new set of Yoko Geolandar All Terrain tyres (235/65R17's) which have a rolling diameter a little bigger than the normal 215's

I know they will result in the speedo being off a little in practical use but its a good offer and I'd live with that as they look the business on a T5....

but apart from that would this put the van in trouble during it's DOE test, anyone know?

Just make sure they are reinforced tyres. They have to be on a commercial standard tyres are cheaper but will fail a doe because they are designed for passenger vehicles.

    thats great thanks
I looked up the yokahama catalogue and according to it and looking at the tyre itself it has a marking "180H RF" and the RF bit anyway means Reinforced
think I'm in business so, thanks!

Van tyres usually have the letter C on the sidewall ie 195-70-15C.

Quick related question, if you had a car van like say the Golf, Auris etc, would these need to have reinforced tyres too so that they pass?

All vans require C rated tyres

yes. you need the correct tyre load spec depending the axle weights on the vehicle.

the weight of each axle should be displayed on the vehicle where the chassis plate is. then look at a tyre load index chart to check the tyres on the vehicle are the correct load spec.
