Dole suspended. Completely unfair.

I live with my grandmother and have been living with her since this January. She fell over and needed me to help out around the house. I ended up loving it there. I had peace and quiet to write and we have a great relationship.

I lost my part-time job this March and applied for a two year course. I need VTOS to be able to attend so I haven't been able to get a job, as per the requirements (needing to be on the dole for at least 6 months). Not that I was being showered in job offers anyway.

I'm only getting €100 a week and nobody is helping me out, not my parents or grandmother. But the social welfare inspectors came to visit on the 15th and 22nd of this month. Both times neither me nor my grandmother were home. I do have a life, even if I don't have a job and I'm not going to be home for unexpected visits 24/7.

I didn't get any warning or any notice of the suspension, had to find out at the post office on Tuesday. I went to my local welfare office yesterday and was told I needed proof of address because my payments were suspended because of "change of address". This would be my fourth time having to bring in proof of address since the end of March when I signed on.

I brought the required paperwork today only to be told I needed to go to the inspector's office. But the guy there told me my pay would be suspended for a while and that I needed to talk to someone else next Tuesday.

    ....WHAT

Wait till next Tuesday and talk to those concerned.

In the meantime if you're financially stuck the Community Welfare Officer might be able to help you out. Give them a ring if you're stuck.

Def go to the community welfare officer, if you start getting paid there, it may quicken up the restoration of your normal claim.

Just to say you will always be asked if you are 'seeking' work as you are currently claiming Job Seeker. Your answer will effect your claim.

Also, I would advise getting a statement of your claim from your hatch to make sure all these breaks in your claim haven't effected your eligibility to join VTOS in Sept. You just ask at your hatch and they post it out to you.
