Its a tender process like deer leases. One of the clubs Im in leases a small bit of land that is in our gunclub area.
I once tried lease an area off them (not for deer) ,It was a large lease and had great potential for some long range rifle shooting,it was crawling in foxes.all was going grand till I mentioned I wanted to use a rifle for hunting, that was a no go and I was told shotgun only on non deer leases.
That was about 3 year ago.

Out of interest, what would be the rough cost per hectare?

Its a bidding process, if its not of high interest to people you could bid very low(think my club pays 80 euro for the bit they lease) but if its somewhere of interest and others are bidding , well just like deer leases its thousands for the lease

We lease land not a hundred miles from you daithi. Have over 200 acres of forestry costing a little under 200 so it's not too bad. But as 1 the lads said the price all depends if some 1 else tendered for it if they didn't it would be got for little or nothing. As far as I know no restriction on numbers using it but they must be insured.
By right u have to inform the forest manager when your goin in and put up signs like deer shooting. And think the hours are something like deer leases. Shooting in the morning till 11 or 12 and that's it. Any more questions just ask
