Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a requirement for insurance company's to give you time after your insurance has run out for renewal. My insurance ran out Friday and I rang them Monday and they said that i had to renew it on the Friday. Seems very short to allow for renewal I though you get at least 7 days after insurance has lapsed to renew. Any suggestion would be great thanks.

There are no Days of Grace on motor insurance policies. If you are through a broker, they may extend their credit terms with the insurer on to you.

Is the disc in the window not enough of a reminder?

Usually get your renewal quote & ncb cert in the post a month beforehand too.

There's always one person who just has to say something useless. Amazingly I don't look at my insurance disc everyday I get into my car and yes I did get the letter but as you said a month before hand so amazingly there was plenty of time to forget it was up for renewal

What you mean is there was plenty of time to sort it out, but you were lazy about it.

There's a very clear end date and time on every single policy - it doesn't say end date: 24/07 plus or minus 7 days in case you forget

There you go. Do you wear a nappy in case you forget to wipe your arse too? They give you a months notice, why would they need to give you another week.

    What's the issue?

    You won't lose your NCB.
You luckily were not in any accident while not insured and have now sorted cover.

I have no issue I Just wanted to find out if there was any leeway on it because there's a big difference in my renewal and a completely new policy. Didn't need any smart answers, I thought there was no harm in asking the question but clearly it somehow offended some people:
