Hi, i'm looking at a few cars that are for sale locally for a first car on a provisional. I'm looking at an 03 Leon 1.4 petrol and an 05 bora 1.4 petrol, are these cars too big to try to get insured on with a provisional license or should I go for something smaller such as a corsa or astra. Any help regarding insurance for a 1.4 on a provisional would also be a great help.
Sorry if I Should have posted this into the insurance section rather than motoring.

Astra is similar size/class as a Bora or Leon. Insurance companies seem to load young drivers of anything from the Volkswagen Audi Group these days similar to Honda Civics.

Best thing to do to keep insurance costs down is to start off with something with a smaller engine. A Micra or Yaris which are 1.0 litre are more insurance friendly in alot of cases. Granted they are not very cool to be seen in but they are ideal until your insurance starts to get cheaper and you build up your driving experience and insurance no claims bonus before moving onto something bigger.
