    Hi folks

Wanted some advice. I am starting a commute from November which will see me going from the M3 Parkway to Pearse Street five days a week. I got the train last Tuesday and it cost €6.65 return. I've tried looking up online but I don't seem to be able to get the cost of a weekly or a monthly ticket. What's my best option for keeping cost down? Is there a monthly card I can buy or something?

according to this http://www.irishrail.ie/fares-and-tickets/dart#dayweeklymonthlytickets , for your station combination,
    Adult Day Return €6.65
Adult 7 Day Rolling Rail €32.70
Adult 3 Day Rolling Rail €19.00

so shag all cheaper, but you dont have the hassle of getting a ticket each day

best maybe to use a leap card which for a single is :
Leap Card / Iarnrod Eireann Smart Card €2.87

If it's for work, your employer does TaxSaver and you're on the high tax rate, Monthly or Annual Taxsaver is a no-brainer. A short hop rail-only is 142 euro and the Taxsaver will roughly halve that. If you go annual, you get 12 months for the price of 10.

It's worth noting that if you have to change train to get to Pearse, it is generally quicker to walk to Pearse from Connolly or Docklands than having to change trains. I've worked in that general area for years and almost always walk from Connolly unless it is really seriously wet.

Check if your employer is taking part in the Taxsaver scheme as this will save you a lot.

A leap card weekly capping is set at 35.50
Wouldn't have thought a 7 day ticket would be cheaper.

The company are but, from my understanding, I have to pass the six month probation period before I am eligible for same.

I get the 6.53 train from the Parkway. The train I change onto at Broombridge goes to Connolly and then Pearse.

Thanks for the tip but there's nothing to be gained from it in my situation.

So the Leap Card would cost me €2.87 x 2 each day = €5.74 per day. €28.70 per week.

The weekly ticket is costing me €32.70 per week so the Leap Card is €4 cheaper.

The Leap Card will also work out better I assume if I'm taking a day off for example so don't need a 5 day ticket.
