Hi all, any one know how long it takes the Dept. to acknowledge receipt of your application as a "competent" sprayer operator, and to issue the number you need to register with SUDS ?

Took me four weeks April to May. I had an acceptable qualification from college so didn't have to do a course. It might take longer now with more qualified people in the system and a deadline looming.

Do you just register on agfood & then wait for the post, or is there more to be done?

Yes register on agfood with details of qualification. Next day get an email with a tracking number for your application. Then one month later email that I'm successful and including my number!

I applied online 2 months ago and last week I got an email saying that for my application to proceed to the next stage, I'd have to send the same details already supplied using the downloadable form. It's a case of 'to proceed to step 2, return to step 1'.

    I love bureaucracy!

Interesting that a FETAC level 5 qualification can expire after 3 years. Is this so for all level 5 courses? I would hardly think if you did a course in childcare or similar this would be the case.
Also when you tick the box on your online application regarding the terms and conditions, you are committing to ongoing training courses.

Unless you go online yourself and start the registration process, you are never going to hear anything. Instructor dosen't do it. He keeps the questionnaires in case of an audit.

    Nek,
Did you do the Course yet?
Would you have the FRS sheets for the Chemical Store & usage?

    Yes.
Go onto AgFood, log in, and click on Sustainable Use Directive System and fill up the form that appears. You will get a course pass number by email eventually, which you then forward to the Pesticidesregisters@agriculture.gov.ie who will give you your Purchase licence number.
