Can someone explain to me the requirement to register? I received a letter to say you have sourced my details somehow.

You obviously have the following information
    • My name
    • My address
    • My meter number (something I actually don't have)
    [*]

If this is a mandatory charge, why am I being asked to register?

That's almost what I am asking. Why do they need my signature, and my written/verbal consent? If this is a hands down mandatory bill why is the ball being put in my court!

    Hi Julie,

You'll note my reply was deleted by 'Irish Water'.

You cannot be a 'customer' of a private company unless you consent.... the ball is in your court.

Odd that some of the posts are removed. Can you advise why?

Irish Water is a semi state company as far as I know, like the ESB or Coillte etc etc. - not a private company.

Essentially if you use water from a 'public' supply and/or flush your toilets down the 'public' sewers - you are a user of the services provide by Irish Water and are being asked to confirm that.

If you don't use either of above, then you fill in the form stating this.

Of course, if you are a consumer of Irish Water services and state you aren't, the the chickens will come to roost some day...

If you register with Irish Water, you will be on the correct tariff type and receive an accurate bill that will reflect your household size and apply any allowances to you.

If you have not done so, you can still register online here or by calling 1890 448 448.

    I hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah

Or use their services... Otherwise it's stealing.

Irish Water Reps do not have the ability to remove any users' posts.

I removed one off-topic post that was not appropriate for this thread. If you wish to discuss this you can PM me, do not discuss moderation on thread.

    Thank you.

    "Otherwise it's stealing."

Haha, nonsense ....  I'll gladly pay for water services WHEN the Irish people are given a chance to vote on the possible future ownership of our water supply.

Until then, I'll see 'Irish Water' in court regarding my status as a customer or not.   Funny that I've been sent a bill even though I NEVER registered!   I can't wait to see my signature on a IW form  (never happened!)

And by the way, I already pay for my water supply through various forms of taxation.

Any politician wanting a preference from this household, better support our water supply remaining ours.

    Regards.

You accept that you might have to go to court - fair enough.

You should probably state that in the same post when you are giving advice - the OP might not be so happy to end up in court.
