Mods - move this if it's not in the right thread please.

    Hi all

I've been using an old coiled whisk I got in Dunnes (I think) years ago. About six months ago the coiled wire snapped and am now surviving with it twisted together which has led to small bits of wire ending up in my sauces and gravies.

I've been trying to find a replacement but everywhere I go, all I can find are balloon whisks. I've tried quite a few of them, from the very small to large but they are not the same. I really miss my old whisk :(

I've tried a lot of shops in Letterkenny, Galway and a few in Dublin but no joy.

Does anyone know where I could get one in Letterkenny or Galway.....or if I'm there soon, Dublin? Would I be better going to some specialist shop? I'd prefer to go to a bricks and mortar shop so I could see how it feels before I buy.

    Thanks :)

Ikea have them for 99c but they're plastic. The Ballymaloe Shop online have really nice ones but they're €6.95 plus €4 postage http://www.ballymaloeshop.ie/index.php/lichfield-coil-whip-whisk.html. M&S have them for €7. Arnotts have two on sale at the moment - one for €2.80 and another with a comfy handle for €5.56 http://www.arnotts.ie/action/searchsite/whisk/

Thanks - will be in Galway tomorrow so will try Ryans. Hadn't thought of it before. Have been to Tk Maxx a few time.....both Letterkenny and Galway but no joy.

The €5.56 one from Arnotts looks good. Might go for that next time in Dublin.

    Thanks guys :)

    Success!!!

Tried Anthony Ryans today and got a beauty :-) It was marked 7.99 but whether there was a sale on or the guy in the shop was amused by my exuberance and smiles, I was charged 6.34 :-)

Thanks again guys. Let the cooking begin :-)

    Nice work.

I've got to agree - there's nothing like a coil-rim whisk for a hundred kitchen jobs.

The balloon ones are really only for meringue, but the coil-rim does everything!
