Discomfort flossing after filling

    I had some fillings last week. When flossing between an amalgam and a composite filling (both new) with a very tight contact, there's a tiny bit of discomfort, barely even pain on pulling the floss out. The gum around the tooth was a bit red for the first few days, but now looks back to normal; the discomfort is still there, though.

    Would this be normal enough, or something I should go back to the dentist about immediately? The only reason I'm a little worried is that I'm going away for a week soon, and wouldn't want it to develop into anything worse when I was in another country. I've a follow-up appointment in a few weeks anyway.

    I had the same. It should settle down after a while. Mine was always temporary pain and eventually subsided.
    It may always hurt after flossing which is something you have to get used to.
