    Hi All

I'm just wondering what descaler to use in the above bean to cup machine.

The instruction book says to only use De'Longhi d. Is this my only option ?

If people are using De'Longhi descaler , where is the cheapest place to get this?

    Thanks
    Barr

I use a proprietary scaler from homestore + more, this one:http://www.homestoreandmore.ie/multiroom/descaler/invt/900930. No problems (yet!).

    Looks a good price :)

The instruction books says not to use sulpamic or acetic based descalers .

Is the homestore either of the above?

I was aware that acetic acid was not to be used. I don't remember seeing advice not to use sulfamic acid.

In any event, this product is made for use with coffee machines (among other things). The active ingredient is glycolic acid.

Per chance, yesterday I bought some Delonghi descaler ( Delonghi EcoDecalk ) for my machine.

A note on it says that it contains between 30% and 50% Lactic Acid

I have that myself, it seems the whole angle of that product is to be more ecologically aware and using a plant based descaling solution.

I have just bought this and was reading the back of the bottle.

It says that its not to be used on expresso machines.

Does this mean it would be unsuitable for the De'Longhi Magnifica. Would that be classed an expresso machine

This is what I use. 99p at Dunnes near the laundry section. Stir in to cold water, run it through and let it sit in the pot for 20 mins, rinse and wipe clean. I usually then run plain water through twice. Any residue will merely make the water a bit softer.

Thanks for the heads-up; I had missed that.

I have been using it for more than a year, and the machine is working fine, and I am still alive. But I will now seek out another product.

Apologies to all for my oversight.

For my De Longhi Magnifica I use Electrolux Universal Descaler, which comes in a 1 litre bottle and I use 100ml diluted with 1 litre of water per descaling.

I bought it in Kenilworth Electrical, who are De Longhi service agents.

I ended up buying HG Descaler for Espresso and Coffee Pod Machines before I saw this.

It says it is suitable with De Longhi machines so happy enough it should do the job.
