Undercover Guards at festivals

    Hi all,

I was at Knockanstockan in Blessington over the weekend. I bought three E pills and was caught by undercover guards. They confiscated them, took my name, etc & asked me several questions. They said I will get a summons in the post.

It was my first time buying drugs (probably why I was so obvious and got caught!) But I am wondering do garda follow up with these small busts at festivals? And secondly what punishment am I looking at?

My main concern is getting a record. I am going travelling for 6 months in September, what happens if I am summoned while away? I am also worried if I return to court after travelling and am unemployed it could make me look bad :(

Now I know what I did was wrong and illegal, etc so please don't lecture me on that. I already feel awful and won't ever be doing it again.

    Thank you for any help!!

I've mentioned on boards before about the time I was in court as a witness to a traffic accident. On the day all the drug busts from oxigen were up. There was 140 that day and the next 2 days 140 a day. Amounts ranged from enough for 2 spliffs to huge amounts of pills and stuff.

So to answer your question, yes they will bring you to court.

Edit to add- On the day most people who showed up and only had small amounts were told to pay €200 to the court poor box and no record. That was 8 years ago though so things could be changed by now
