Name change and marriage certificate

    Hi,

We are about to send in our completed marriage registration form. My wife wants to change her surname to my one. I understand that we post the marriage registration form and apply for a marriage certificate online.

But where does she specify that she wants my surname now that we are married ? Does this need to be done by deed poll after the marriage certificate is sent to us ?

Probably simple but seems i'm missing how this all works !

    Thanks in advance.

Your wife can use your surname without having to fill out any forums. The name change is accepted by common usage. If she wants to change her name on her driving licence or passport, for example, your marriage certificate will be needed as evidence that she's entitled to do so.
