Nursing home and bank statements

Hi I'm looking for some advice.

My elderly aunt is going into a nursing home. I am filling out the forms with her but I want to make clear I do not have any dealing in her affairs. I just want to advise her correctly as she is unsure what to do.

On the form it requests copies of full statements from financial institutions.....does anyone know how many months/years statements we should send?

From the form it appears she is allowed 36,000 in assets that will go unassessed is this correct?

What happens to any money that may be over this amount?

She has some bills that she needs to pay before going into the home. Can she pay these after requesting statement or should she request new statements after bills are paid (obviously they'll show money being used for bills as she'll pay by cheque) but balance will then be slightly less.

Please advise if you have any knowledge/experience. PMs very welcome. I have no dealings in these matters and am stressed for her.

Is your aunt applying for the fair deal/ Nursing Homes Support Scheme?
