Has anyone played this course in the last year? What condition is it in. They had serious issues with drainage in the past.

So at last I have knocked off Kerry off the list - of counties I have played in.

Was nice to do it the week of an AI final on the way.

A big one that was missing from places I have played. Now - it wasn't on my terms and it is the full intention to play the Big Boys down there and play all the Links. But this was a close friends' society we play every year.

Didn't know much about ROK and was looking forward to any golf as we had got absolutely drenched, in the worst conditions I was ever on a course in - the Friday in Macroom Cork.

And it was still and perfect on Kenmare Bay - and they are right , but you can't tell them. Is one of the most stunning places anywhere - never mind Ireland.

We had drowned our sorrows on the Friday in Kenmare, so buggies were needed as we had been warned.

We had left all our gear drying at the back of our house in Kenmare Bay and my driver was stolen , a bit of a bad start.
I'm not great with 3 woods - so a borrowed Nike driver (didn't work) and a 5 iron was the call.

It is an interesting course, very hilly - I typically like hilly courses , but we were not walking.
There are some very average holes - good holes and spectacular holes. All the holes that use the drop of the land are very interesting - strong holes from 6 to 9.

Then an amazing hole at 12 (par 5) with dramatic drop and the next par 3. Another strong hole up the hill at 14 , but the course does fade away.

Needed 3 pars to finish to win event and was happy to be another Dub taking a cup out of Kerry this week.

The greens are of very good quality - but a bit silly at times too. Basically a 3/4 putt from wrong spot (I KNOW) don't be in wrong spot.

Got to talk to a few locals - honestly between my Dublin accent and some wild atlantic way ones, there was very little understood 1/2 the time :D

So a start in Kerry - way more to do and see. Will be back.

There was a stillness in that bay - I didn't think was possible , not sure I will see it like that again.

Off now to find a driver (asap) I think golfers on boards here understand losing your driver is a big deal. Your man who robbed it didn't.

Anyway - another big week on the way.
