I checked it and it's true.
If you have a grand 'handy' you'd be up either €375 or €187 respectively.

I doubt if either of them would let you have a grand on it. Unless you maybe split the bet up

Maybe I'm a bit slow but how is it like buying money.
To do both bets @ 500 will cost 1000.
If the ladbrokes bet wins then you profit 375 on that but you have lost 500 on the hills bet.
Alternatively if the Hills bet wins then you profit 187.5 but have lost 500 on the Ladbrokes bet, am I correct?

checked with PP and anything on similar special over €50 has to be cleared. Probably the same with the others.

Ladbrokes bet will get you a profit of 875. Hills 687.5.

No , Ladbrokes bet will return 875-includes the 500bet-profit 375, but you have also lost 500 on the hills bet. If Hill wins you get return of 687.5-includes 500 bet, profit 187.5, but you have lost 500 on the Ladbrokes bet.

    500 @ 7/4 returns 1375 including stake.

I hope for your own sake you avoid the bookies this week!

A €1 bet on each would mean a €2 investment.

7/4 would get you €2.75 back, 11/8 will get you €2.38 back, so either way you're up money, unless I'll missing something

That's what I though, was right originally so. cheers

Because both bets are greater than evens you have to make money on it

    Not rocket science.
Let's make it easier to understand, it's basically a 2 runner race, both runners are 11/8 and 7/4.
You would have to make money backing both runners.

sorry I missed this. how big did people get matched on this? what was the max bet

id be afraid to chance it. knowing my luck they would allow me to put €500 on one of the bets and just €25 on the other bet and the €25 bet would win

well it is important not to bet more than you are comfortable with. if you could do it piece by piece on the online accounts it would have been good. even still if you got 25 on each side, it would be free money.

you can check your bets before hand

you;re betting on 2 sites that have different rules, no guarantee that the bet will be accepted. normally bookies have a exposure limit for a market, and if that is reached they can reduce the odds and put the market back up again. they may only take small bets from arbers or winning punters also.

if it was an arb with betfair it would be safer as you'd do the bookie side first and then if you get matched do the bf side

Wasn't an Arb with Betfair as they didn't have it up.
Normally on something like this, you will get whatever amount you want matched with the bookmaker who is sure they are right, the other side is a different story.
Would have been available in the Ladbrokes shops in Ireland so you could do multiple bets using that channel using an online Hills account.
Current spread Weld winners is around 7.5 on the Spread markets so Ladbrokes (7/4) would be winner and Hills (11/8) loser at the moment.

I was just putting up a dutching calculator there.

If you had €100 and were sure you could get on, you could put €46.29 on the 2.75 (7/4) shot and €53.71 on the 1.37 (11/8) shot to guarantee a profit of €27.29.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

Ladbrokes inshop were laying €200 at 7/4 no problems.

Just a heads up, never put an odd amount on a bet (online anyway).
Alarm bells will ring as the bookie will know it's an Arb somewhere or somehow.
    So with each bookie as above, I would do €46 & €54 or €45 & €55.
Wouldn't be 100% hedged but but would be close enough.

Have you worked in a trading room before?

Aye, was just trying to use the example from the calculator. I've had a few accounts closed down, some were for arbing, others for simply winning. You'd be surprised at how little they let you win before shutting you down - wrote a blog about it a while back:

    One of my mates has.
Just a pity he never told me not to do odd amount stakes before I got 3 accounts closed because of it.
Greed is an awful thing :(.

The exact same thing happened to me and I got practically the same email, word for word, off them.
Wasn't winning off them either but a lot of the horses were movers or best priced which doesn't help the cause.

I figured much the same when I was arbing last year but only after accounts
were limited did I think the odd stakes were a factor

wished I'd know same and I did get carried away
If only I could start all over again :(

betfair sportsbook were the first to limit me after one bet is all
