    M50 J17 is M11 J4

AFAIK the others are reserved for when the eastern bypass is built (if that ever happens); this will branch off the existing M50 at Sandyford and the remaining bit of M50 will become the M11. Rare bit of forward planning to save them having to renumber every other junction on the N11.

As long as they don't plan on having more than 3 junctions on it :D

    presumably it'll be

    J1 - Sandyford (M50)
    J2 - Carrickmines
    J3 - Cherrywood
    J4 - Loughlinstown

Ah, sorry didn't spot the bit of your post where you mentioned the remaining bit of the M50 would become M11, that would make sense then.

Interesting to know, thanks. I always assumed it would be if they converted to motorway towards Dublin (and needed lower exit numbers) as the N11 starts at Stephen's Green doesn't it?

Not any more it doesn't. It's now the R138 from the junction with Mount Merrion Avenue inwards. All other N roads within the M50 (N3, N4, N81 etc.) have also been de-trunked to R roads.

there's no real prospect of the existing N11 north of Loughlinstown being upgraded to motorway. The Eastern Bypass would effectively replace it for non-local traffic. Probably 10 years away at least.
