Moving from UK to Ireland as stress-free as possible

I know this looks like it's in the wrong forum, but bear with me (but please move it if it makes more sense somewhere else).

I have a beautiful illness that is exacerbated massively by stress.
I'm living in the UK at the moment and the benefits system here is driving me home to Ireyland. Despite paying the higher rate of tax for years, I have to repeatedly beg for enough to live on.
I should have moved home years ago but I stuck it out because I know the stress of moving will probably hospitalise me.
The Benefits system is changing again and my landlord is getting antsy about taxation changes so wants to sell up. I took it as a sign to skidaddle.

    Here's the question.
How do I get my stuff back to the mother land?

I've looked everywhere for a company that will hire out a van that we can load up here, drive over there and then leave at an Irish depot instead of bringing it back on the ferry.
Every rental company is more than happy to let you do that with a car, but none of them seem to allow it with a van.

I've been looking for a courier or moving company that will do it too (just a bed, boxes and bags), but they're all asking £4000+

I'm trying to plan it all out as much as I can to stave off the inevitable stress for as long as possible.

    Any ideas?

£4,000 sounds on the very heavy side, you should be able to get it for much less. Have you contacted any of the Irish home moving companies, you might get one going back to Ireland with some spare space for the right price.
Even considering van hire prices, fuel and return ferry costs, I wouldn't have imagined it coming anywhere near 4k.
However if 4k is the best you can get, maybe consider having someone else drive the hired van over and back for you. You could just be a passenger to Ireland and your friend could drive the van back to the U.K.
Or, seeing as the bed is the big bulky item, would you not consider leaving the bed behind you and re-visit the car option, but hire an estate car to take the boxes and bags. A Ford Focus or Mondeo Estate with the rear seats down will give you a huge amount of space to load up.
I imagine the savings that way should leave you with enough money spare to buy a new bed here.

Best of luck with the move, hope it all works out.

The mattress on my bed cost £3000 (I was kinda flush, back when I used to earn).
I'd gladly leave everything but the bed. It's where I spend most of my time anyway.

I think I'm ok now. Your first idea is the one we got.
The parents managed to find a company that is doing a big move to the UK and a small move back.
I can get my stuff in as a part load and split the cost.
It's looking to be more like 1k than 4.

At 3k for the bed I can see why thats not being left behind :)
Glad you got the transport sorted out, best of luck again with your move and your health.
