I have been looking for a general purpose bike, road, trail, light touring. The roads in my area are very rough and I have been looking at the Surly cross check, straggler, pacer and the all city space horse. The reason being that the ride on steel is more forgiving and the above bikes can take tyres up to 32mm.

Now I am looking at the Giant anyroad. Relaxed geometry, big tyre options and I also like the dual bar and drop breaks. In other countries an Anyroad Comax is available. A carbon composite frame with 105 shifters. This bike is not yet available in the UK or Ireland.
Will this bike be available in Ireland in 2016?
Will Carbon be a lot harsher than steel and will it be suitable for very light touring?

Any advice for a novice graduating from a hybrid would be appreciated.
