    Froome won €450k according to commentators today and those figures probably don't allow for sponsorship deals etc,

    That's included in the Sky total above, which means that their haul from other sources was actually probably modest enough. As you say though, these are only considering prizes awarded from the organisers, any performance-related sponsorship, etc. is outside of that.

    Even with sponsorship etc you have to wonder how sky justify a 20m budget per year versus (potential) winnings like that. TdF will be the biggest payout and is still pretty tiny in comparison to the budgets. Would they get more than 2m over all competitions throughout he year?
