    in a hypothetical situation what's the flexibility of a unmarried mother of one (sole custody since birth of 10 year old, but weekly access court granted to father) relocating herself and son to a town 2 hours away in order to work and also live with her long time partner?

    Hypothetically, could the dad put the stop to this and get an order stopping his child's mum from leaving town for work?

    You need to speak to a solicitor who practises in family law work. I think that you may need to ask about what is called a 'move away' application.

    Most of these applications in precedent seem to refer to guardians seeking to leave the jurisdiction ie the country.

    Does the same apply if one wishes to move from say Dublin to Mullingar?

    i'd also be interested to hear about this aswell. Most cases ive heard have involved moving away from Ireland but can a judge put a block on a mother moving to a town say 2 hours away?
