    Hi all,

The laquer is peeling off the bonnet of my car. I'm going to give the car a polish with a DA polisher over the next few days and I'm just wondering should I avoid the bonnet or will be ok to polish over it with the DA?

It should be avoided for heaving compounding. However depending on how bad it is you may be able to lightly page a pass over it to restore colour. If there are signs of flaking, avoid it, or tape down the area and polishing over/ around it.

Thanks Curran, it has only started in the last year. Its mainly on one side of the bonnet, the rest is minor yet.

When I say you can restore colour...I mean of the areas that still have clear coat....if you were you polish up to a tape line doing heavy compounding and were not to do around the peeling area, you will be left with an area of clear coat that wont match the polished clear coat, so if its not flaking, a finishing pad and finishing polish on a slow speed can be used on the area to ensure better matching.
