Putting Linux as a side load OS on Macbook Pro

    Hi there guys at the moment i am doing a course in Linux and i am wondering how can i go about side loading Linux on mac ?. What is the best way of doing it ?.

    Many ways to skin a cat. I would suggest starting out installing Linux in a vm,. using Virtualbox, that way you are not partitioning your mac's hdd, and messing with the bootloader with refit.

    Ubuntu used to release an iso with mac architecture compatibility, but I havent looked at it in years. If your new to it have a look at their forums, always good info there. Depending on how new your macbook is, it may or may not be an easy thing to achieve for someone that is new, apple certainly do not make it as simple as it is to dualboot linux on a x86 pc. Ive heard the latest release of Fedora works good on newer macs.

    Virtualization is your best option to test the waters, and plenty good, you can even ssh into your vm's like you would remotely into a linux server, giving you that real world feel.
