Hi, I am 17 and going on a day trip too Oakwood with my friends, we are leaving Rosslare and arriving at Fishguard, I recently noticed that my passport is out of date and I worried that I won't be able to get past customs, but I read online that I don't need a passport but I should bring ID, but I don't have a drivers liscense but I do have a birth certificate, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

In the unlikely event that you're asked for ID the out of date passport should be okay - unless it has a baby photograph in it. :D

Note that customs and immigration are two separate functions, normally carried out by separate agencies. Customs don't normally ask for passports.

From time to time, both functions may be carried out by ordinary police.

No passport needed for ferry travel between Ireland & Britain (not so far anyway).

I travel a lot by ferry, and have never ever had to produce a passport, saying that, I always have my passport in my hand luggage "just in case"? but you'll be fine without.

Best to have some form of ID with you.

OP has obviously been lifted by the wicked Brits as they haven't been back on here since their first post. :D

Travelled to Cardiff by Stena and the train last Summer and wasn't asked for any ID at any stage of the journey.
