Going for an interview next week, I'm not sure when the official start date is but I have holidays booked for August and I'm wondering what is the best approach? Mention it at interview or say nothing in case if affects my chances?

Are you employed at the moment?

Ah right I was going to say you could of said you had to finish out your notice with your other employer.

I'd mention it, either way they're going to know eventually and it will reflect bad afterwards. Usually there would be a bit of flexibility if they wanted you especially around start dates and it being so early on.

Yeah, I'd feel a bit of a heel if I left without saying it. Thanks for your advice.

Tell them at the interview and they can prepare to work around it. Don't tell them and you may end up leaving them in the lurch. Remember you will be on a trial for the first few months and they can let you go.

Let them know, they will more than likely ask anyway and you can't just lie to them. It's one of the things we always ask interviews.

If they ask, when can you start, or if you have holiday plans, then it's a good indicator they a strongly considering you for the role.

Be honest, tell them you can start straight away but have holidays booked in for August. They will be understanding if they are any good as employers. It's a busy time of year for holidays.

When in August. I mean it's the end of July now and if you're only at interview stage it's possible the job isn't due to start before the holiday anyway or if it is you might only need to delay it a week or whatever.

Inform them...no harm...if you are right candidate they will wait for you !!

They will likely ask you if you have any holidays books. Any employer doesn't like to be unexpectedly caught but for the right candidate would accommodate, as mush as possible. Any job I have ever gone for has asked me has asked if I have asked if I had holiday booked.

I would not bring it up in a first round interview.
If they ask for a potential start date I would mention that you can start straight away but have two weeks planned vacation in August. Otherwise I would wait until at offer stage to start mentioning potentially negative facts.
