Does anyone know the procedure for registering an imported vehicle in a different county than that of one's home address?

    Thanks in advance

not possible unless you register car in someone elses name or buy from dealer and get him to register it in his name first , why would you want to ?

Just fill in the details as you like, use a relative/friends address.

Do they not ask for proof of address?

VRT/NCTS require proof of address in the form of a utility bill/bank statement when registering the import.

If you want a dublin reg it need to be registered at a Dublind address but also at a Dublin VRT office.

Also, i understand the logic of resale value but "anonimity"??

I don't think this is right. It goes off of the address on the documentation you provide.

For example my car was VRT'd in carlow and I got a kk reg since that is my address. The dealer I bought from uses VRT centres in any county they can get an appointment, and they are based in Dublin, so you do not need to register it in Dublin to get a D reg.
