Has the crop attack started anywhere yet?

I notice winter barley looks nearly ripe. Few pigeons & crows having a look but no attack. Has it started anywhere else yet?

Started here in tipp after heavy rain 2 weeks ago but load of harvesting started this week so pigeons are moved onto stubble

Between the silage cut and the slurry being spread the crops around me are being spared.
Out shooting clays today and some of the grain has just been harvested, my permissions are due for cutting within the coming week, so roll on the invasion.

Went out yesterday, no big numbers but we had a good day. We spotted huge numbers in another field on our way home. I'm hoping the weather is a bit more settled next weekend, give them another go.

Got out yesterday over standing barley.
huge flock of mixed corvids in a flattened patch in the middle of the field, we set up in the corner on a piece of headland and they decoyed perfect for us.
140 birds in 5 hours, great days shooting only a handful of pigeons though and 2 magpies.

I have been out but no great bags yet. Lots of tillage here being cut at the same time so they have plenty of choice and can just moved on to another field.

Noticed that not many pigeons attacking yet ...mostly jackdaws and rooks.

Two outings in last four days, two different locations, south county Dublin and Meath, 143 and 237 ( respectively) picked up and all pinched and into the freezer or conifited.

I find 32g 6s with improved cyclinder (quarter choke) more than adequate, they can be tough buggers to bring down at times but I wouldn't go reaching for the Eley VIPs for vermin shooting.
