Running newb - weak ankle

Hey all! Looking for a bit of advice. I've been running about 3 or months now, completed the couch to 5K. I do 5k generally every second day. About 2 weeks ago my right ankle started to feel twingey after my run. I spaced my runs about a bit more since then, and have been wearing ankle support, but I'm still getting the same twinges, slightly sore ankle after running, and my ankle is cracking like mad!

Is it time to visit a professional? Or should it go away on it;s own? Should I stop running for a while?

Are you doing any stretching? I had something similar and I went to a physio, which I advise you do, who said I had tight glutes. You won't get medical advise here, but I would strongly recommend seeing a physio.

I'm not great for the stretching, I do some, but should do more. Usually do some lunges pre run and stretch out the back of my knees post run.

Yeah, I might just bite the bullet and go visit a physio or sports therapist. I don't want to end up properly injured!

Congrats for being a post c25k'er dearg lady !! I became same in 03/14 so not that long ago. Since then I've had niggles up and down both legs, all come, all go. Can't say thats what will happen with yours though. What I can say is that I've been to a physio only once and that niggle recurred - but my own 'knowing my own body' helped me get over that one.

I did find that increasing distances which is what we all want to do, brought on more aches, the joints dont take too kindly to this, theres a ton of mistakes to make in the early days, tying laces too tight, running downhill too fast, too much stretching pre run on cold muscle.
