Watch Batteries

My local watch, shoe repair, etc charges €10 for a watch battery. Dealz have packs of 30 batteries for €1.49. Most cheaper watches are easy to open with a thin bladed knife. Remove the plastic insert, take out the old battery, pop in a new one & save €9.95 per watch :pac:

The ones from Dealz and other likeminded quid shops tend to be crap. Ive used them in the past and found them not to last very long. For cheaper watches a 10 quid battery is a bit much so maybe theres a point for the cheap batteries but for anything worth a few quid, its not worth the hassle.

The batteries are absolute crap though. Prime example of getting what you pay for.

Yup, would not bother with those batteries, but you can still save money by burying and fitting a decent battery yourself....But watch out for shaky hands scratching the watch!

I agree about the cheap watches not lasting. I need 2032 ones for weighing scales. Where is a reasonable place to get these batteries that WILL last? When I bought it I used it for two or three years with the same battery life but batteries don't seem to last in it since, like after one week!!!!!

All Dealz (and Euro2 etc) batteries are crap. I bought some "Sony" 9V batteries to replace the ones in my smoke alarms - first one I replaced the alarm started beeping for low battery immediately, took it back out and checked it with a multimeter - it was under 7V. I've bought AA and AAA (branded "Hyundai" "Kodak" etc) before and as well as not lasting very long they tend to leak. They're also noticeably lighter than proper batteries, suggesting there's less actual battery chemicals in them.

I'd say I haven't changed the battery in my watch for almost a decade.

Nice one, op! Gonna save nearly a euro a year!

    :D

    Argos €5.99

    Tesco €5.76

    EBay €4.91

(Used the Ebay store a couple of times, found them speedy enough, but no post discount for 1+ items sadly.)

Anywhere but Maplins. If for no other reason other than the fact that they are extortionate.

I put one of those cheap batteries in my G Shock 4 months ago. Now the light will not work because the power is so low.

In this case. buy cheap, buy 10X times.

I am trying cheapies because the Rayovacs fitted by the shop, at €10 each, have lasted less than 6 months.

I have two cheap work watches that use the really small battery. Even if the Dealz ones last 3 months they will be good value.
