IYO who would take the title of "P4P King", aka #1 P4P, if they fighters fought in their prime at the same time?

I only got into boxing big time around 2009. Before that I was a casual boxing fan who only watched Mike Tyson fight, thus I didn't see Roy Jones in his prime. People have said he was incredible though.

Mayweather, Roy Jones doesn't have the same level of ring intelligence to deal with all styles of fighters.

In his prime 160-175 years, pre HW he did deal with all styles, and IMO met more dangerous and challenging styles and opponents than Floyd.

I don't think there is a man in history that could beat prime Jones p4p. He was that damn good. The way he beat Toney so convincingly will always be one I remember fondly.

I think Jones was the better in their primes. I actually think P4P Jones would have beaten any boxer in history.

This is not underestimating Mayweather in any way, what he has done by remaining at the top for so long is very, very impressive. However, I think if they fought in the magic world of P4P, he'd be meeting a boxer who besides being faster, stronger and a harder hitter is actually smarter than him. That would be a first for Mayweather who is always used to being the intelligent fighter in the ring.

Interestingly Boxing News had a an article recently on the best boxers of the last 25 years and they had Jones at no. 1 with Mayweather at 2 and Pacquaio at 3.

Watching old videos of Jones in his prime on Youtube is a common past time for me. It's a true delight.

as seen as Boxing like all sports has improved then this is not that wild a claim, Maybe give examples of these old fighters who would beat him? not saying their is none but it's not that wild a claim to me

I'd make Roy a favourite over any MW that ever lived. SRR could cause him issues, but Roy's natural size advantage and power could be too much for SRR. There are IMO fighters like Benn and McClellan and Hearns who would be very dangerous against Roy. Heavy hitters, and aggressive and fast.

Just in case you misunderstood me - I made it very clear I meant pound-for-pound.

Plus the farther back in history you go the worse the boxing gets. Check it out on Youtube (the sentimentalists' worst enemy).

This is not a view I came to easily. Long before Youtube I bought numerous old videos from collectors in order to appreciate the old-timers. Most of them disappointed me, with some standout exceptions - SRR, Jimmy Wilde, Joe Louis. I ended up buying great fights rather than collections of great fighters' fights, as that way I was guaranteed entertainment.

I firmly believe Jones at his best would beat any of them - pound-for-pound.
