Thomond Swim

    guys if ye are around town tomorrow come on and have a look and support us as we take part in the annual Thomond Swim in the Shannon River through town tomorrow!
    The 2015 Thomond Swim will take place on Saturday 25th of July at 12:45. The swim starts from the slipway at St Michael’s Rowing Club and proceeds up the river Shannon to a turning point just below Thomond Bridge. Competitors then swim down river past King John’s Castle, the Civic offices, Shannon Rowing Club before finishing back at St Michael’ s Rowing Club.
    The Thomond Swim covers a distance of 1800m and is a qualifier for the Liffey and Harbour Swims in Dublin.
    Spectators are encouraged to come and support the swimmers with the best vantage points along Clancy Strand, O’Callaghan Strand, Sarsfield bridge and Howley’s quay.
    Through the sponsorship of Shannon Port Foynes Company and safety support of Limerick Marine Search and Rescue, swimmers of all ages from 16 upwards complete for first, second and third place non wetsuit male and female prizes, first wetsuit male and female and fastest overall male and female swimmers.
