If I sellotape my car's indicator lamp cover in place, will I pass the NCT

My car passed its NCT this morning but on the way home the car's indicator lamp cover fell off. Fortunately I was able to retrieve it from the road and its not damaged. If I use waterproof sellotape or another clear tape to fix it into position will it pass next year's NCT?

Alternately, can anyone suggest a strong adhesive? (Note, I've use SuperGlue in the past and found it to be very poor).

    Thanks.

    Clear silicon would do it.

I cracked the entire casing of my wing mirror and used black tape to cover the whole thing to ensure there was no jagged edges. it stands out against the paint of my car. It has since passed the nct twice so take what you want from that

would you not just buy a second hand lamp?

would you not just buy a second hand lamp?

Which is a good idea because the lamp fitting may corroded away anyway with all the rain and road muck getting in to it.

I was thinking of this too. Only £15 on eBay with P&P. Might do this in the long term and glue for the time being.

I reckon it would pass with tape. But you should be able to pick up a part very cheap too. Best do it properly if you can.

    Reasons for Failure:
    4) Insecurely mounted
    5) Lens broken or missing
    6) Contains water/moisture.

So if it was taped on, you'd want to make sure it was:
    1) Securely taped
    2) The lens is complete and located correctly so there was no non-amber light being emitted. (More of an issue with an amber lens than a clear one)
    3) The inside were dry.

But as you have already passed and have another year, you might as well fix it properly. In the meantime, tape/silicon seal/polyurethane seal it back in place.
