Telecommunications Mast

    Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a way of discretely enquiring if planning permission was sought or if it was exempted for the erection of a telecommunications mast in the grounds of a local sports club? I would rather not give my name and address to the local council as this would be then likely to be given to the sports club too.

    Thanks

Planning applications are put in public files. You should be able to look up planning applications in your councils website. If not, you can view them in the local planning office. If its exempted development, there wouldn't have been a planning application.

    Thanks.

I made enquiries and it seems that no permission was sought and that it was not exempted either. I was told if I want to make a complaint that I have to give my name and address to the local council which will also be given to the local sports club which I do not feel fully comfortable doing. Unfortunatley it seems that eventhough the council are aware of the unauthorised development they are not duty bound to act upon it and only have to act if a member of the public puts their name and address to it in an official complaint.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Planning Enforcent can only act on foot of a complaint from the public, referral from another state body or department or from a councillor acting on behalf of a member of the public.

So maybe get your local councillor to lodge the complaint.

But, whoever told you that your details will be passed onto the sports club made a mistake, you details are confidential and are never released to anybody, including the other party and not even if the case makes its way to court.

You can do it by email also.

Thanks for that. Glad to know it is anonomous. Have you been through or know others who have gone through this process before?
