the mileage seems excessive for an automatic city car that is barely 4 years old. it's done just under 21k miles a year. something about it screams ex-rental, the spurious hubcaps perhaps or the fact that they have more than one on stock same years, same colours and nearly the same reg plate.

it's probably not a bad car as such, but at the same time it's awful in nearly every regard. you could do a lot better with €6k i'd say. is automatic a necessity?

i'd rather look away from the reg plate and step back a year or two into a far better car like either of these, for example

yes automatic is necessary since I have a disability.
thank you for warning me about the miles.

    Ex-rental fodder my guess.

The cars are imported from Japan as they usually have lower mileage and are better equipped than Irish models. the price quoted in the ad will include Irish number plates and NCT etc.

The Yaris you posted also suggests ex-rental, but you are shopping in a market (relatively new, automatic, hatchback) where a lot of vehicles have the potential to be ex-rental. However it may not actually be and it's just me being cynical. Overall though it's a better car than the first one you posted, it only has 25k miles and the Yaris is a good bit sturdier than the Alto, so it's well worth considering, just bare in mind they are asking €6000 for a 2006 model, whereas with the Japanese import alternative you are getting a €2008 model for the same price.

when I asked for a quote the insurances asked me if the car was imported from Japan. is it going to be more expensive? I find very difficult to find an insurance because this is the first time I buy a car in Ireland. I have been asked for a premium of 2000 Euro!
what about the service?will be more expensive too if it is an imported car? I am interested not only in the cost of a car, but also in all other cost

Some Japanese cars carry an insurance loading but these are usually older/ performance models, i doubt there would be much, if any of a loading for that 2008 Yaris/ Vitz, but price around of you are not sure. Even at that, i'd rather pay slightly higher insurance on a well maintained, well spec'd Japanese model than an Irish ex-rental that's been driven half to death.

€2000 sounds about accurate for a first time insurance policy in Ireland, it is very expensive here compared to other countries.

You are on the correct idea in terms of car choice to keep other associated motoring costs down.
