Is it reasonable for an agency to be taking €100 / day from a client for a daily rate contract?

Reasonable depends on the role and how much the person makes but it is pretty standard

They are taking about 18%, whats the norm in % usually.

Are you an employee of the agency (ie submit timesheets and have tax deducted by PAYE thru thru them)?

Or a contractor via the agency (ie submit invoices to them, they pay you after the client pays them, and you do your own tax)?

In the first option, the standard take starts at about 30%, but may get reduced for some clients/situations. This sounds a lot, until you factor in that 8% of it is for holidays and 11% for employer PRSI.

I don't know about industry norms for the 2nd situation.

Im a contractor, do my own taxes, submit invoices etc. Been doing it for years and dont normally get wind of what the agency charge the client, but any time i have its been between 13% and 22%
