Any sugggestions on where to find a manual ice cream maker (Donvia makes one) in Kerry? All I've found have been low-quality electric or very expensive electric. Had a great Cuisinart for years, brought it over when we moved from the States, but the motor's given up the ghost. Cusinart apparently doesn't ship the equivalent model to Ireland, only the much more expensive one that includes freezing. The one we had, has the freezer bowl you stick in the freezer separately.

    Thanks.

have you had the motor checked by someone who knows how to check it, depending on the type fitted it may only have worn carbon brushes or a faulty capacitor

Haven't found anyone in Dingle that does engine repair. This one's about 12 years old and looks pretty 'sealed' from what I can see; there's one screw I can't get out to open it fully, seems like an odd style, neither flat- nor slot-headed.

    Thanks for the info.

Sounds like a security screw of some kind or more likely a HEX drive that can be undone with an allen key.

Could be - will try that.

Anyone know if there's some place to mail the motor to, for rewiring? I don't see a lot of 'appliance repair' places around. There might be a vacuum repairer in Tralee, I guess.

You might be better off looking for "motor rewinding" there are several companies around that will repair motors, but they mainly deal with industrial motors.
It is possible that someone may be able to supply you with an equivalent motor for the unit.
