worth the 449? i notice a lot of toshiba do not have stereo mix , not sure about this one

You could probably do better. I can't believe you're having this much trouble finding a laptop that can play and record audio at the same time. My first PC 15 years ago could do that! What are manufacturers up to?

i think it is something to do with them not wanting people to record copyrighted stuff

Seems a waste of time with YouTube mp3 converters and whatnot. You could always try and get hold of a cheap external soundcard.

I'd still take the Lenovo....faster hard drive and full HD screen will make for much better usability.

    Even over the Dell ?

Depends on what you want. The Dell has the best processor out of all of them, but all are sufficient enough that you're not going to see any difference in normal use.

The Lenovo has the best screen by far and also the fastest hard drive. I would still wager that will make a much bigger difference to usage, but only you can answer that really.

The Lenovo has an SSD integrated so it will have certain performance benefits (boot time especially if the OS is on the SSD)

I am basically using it for surfing the net and maybe down loading photos from phones -but not a whole lot , I like he idea of the better pixel on the Lenovo for watching videos , but is there going to be much of a difference between the Core i3 processor in the Lenovo and the Core i5 in the Dell ? what really drove me mad with my 2007 Dell Inspirion is it not being able to handle 10 different tabs switching from You Tube to fourms , to ebay etc especilly now that i have good efibre i want it to be able to handle this and not 'freezing' when the pressure would come on ..

The SSHD is a standard hard drive that also has a certain amount of memory in the form of chips, so it accesses a lot faster on those compared to the HDD part, which is more physical and slower.

I have a laptop with a SSHD and it boots in maybe 10secs, compared to a coupe of minutes for my other HD only laptop.

The processor won't make much difference in terms of your requirements

Isn't that RAM rather than the processor?

    It can be both.

The only difference between the i3 and i5 is that the i5 has Turbo Boost - basically when under strain it can boost from 1.7Ghz to 2.7Ghz if required, the i3 does not have this feature. Other than that they're pretty much the same processor.

You're unlikely to need the turbo-boost in casual usage however so I'd say you're safe with the i3. And a full HD screen will make a massive difference if you're web browsing with multiple tabs.

I suppose yes but the age is against it too and by the time you have it upgraded are you better buying a new one ....

Also i thought this was cheaper a few days ago ... and not 499 Euro now - or am i wrong ??
