windows and doors

So we need to get new doors out into our garden.
Currently we have a white pvc (old) sliding door. Im not a fan of pvc, in general.

We are building a very large (1500*1500mm) window along the same wall as the door - both facing into the garden.
    These will need to match.

I would like as little obstruction as possible.

I think we have figured out the window layout, but not the material.

I would love a bi-fold door because they open out entirely, brining the garden into the kitchen. But I understand they cost ~4-5k, which we definitely don't have.

I suppose the next best option is French doors as these open out fully also.

    But what material would work
    - aesthetically,
    - energy efficiency wise
    - cost efficiency wise,

    for both windows and doors?

    Any thoughts?
