    Hi Country Fans,

I'm looking for a Johnny Cash song I heard once or twice a long time ago, the subject of the song is that the singer is a law enforcement person (sheriff, policeman) who has a ne'er-do-well brother who (I think) gets into fights and some petty criminality - the protagonist is torn between not arresting his brother and doing his job, eventually arresting the brother to keep him from further damaging himself.

    Thanks!

Could it be the Bruce Springsteen song "Highway Patrolman" that Cash covered on his album Johnny 99?

If so, then you've got the ending wrong.

He really does a great cover of that song.

Love the vocals at "I ran out and I jumped in my car and I hit the lights. I must of done about 110 through Michigan county that night".

He also sang Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" which suprised me.

Check out the 1991 movie Indian Runner with Sean Penn, based on the story within the song.
