Options for selling car that needs new engine

    Hi,

The timing chain went (@ 110k miles) on my 2004 Honda Accord 2.2d meaning the engine needs to be replaced.

I've been quoted a price of €1k for a replacement engine and €400 for labour - when fixed, the car would not be worth more than €2k so it doesn't make sense for me to repair it. Can anyone advise how I might be able to sell the Honda without replacing the engine? Are there places that would buy a damaged car or should it be scrapped?

I had been planning on changing the car anyway as I relocated recently and now commute only 15k's each way a day so I no longer need a diesel car (which has an annual €1k tax bill). Any advice on the most reliable 05/06 family sized petrol car to go for? Not looking to spend much more than €2k - €2.5k?

    Thanks in advance.

Just sell it as normal. Put it on donedeal and adverts with many photos and an explanation about the engine issues.
Perhaps someone will buy it as a donor car for their own.
They come and pick it up, you send the VRC to Shannon as per usual.

For car buying queries I suggest a post in Buying forum
